My Painting at Art Fluent

So often making art, in any form, is a leap of faith. You create because you have something to say, but you know there's a good chance no one will ever hear you. When the work presents challenges, doesn't come out how you'd imagined, doesn't get your point across, all you have is that seed of an idea to believe in, important and yet unrealized.

What a thrill, then, to wake up to the news that my mixed-media encaustic painting, "The Claw" was selected for inclusion in Art Fluent's juried online show STAND 2024, a virtual space "where creativity and activism meet." Thrilling because the theme called for art which sparked important conversations, but also because this piece was the result of many trials and failures. Having persisted through these challenges, I'm honored to see it in conversation with all the other amazing and discussion-provoking work.
